TEACHING

PHILOSOPHY

I believe all teachers should value the abundance of educational resources available. Teachers should continually be reading new ideas and research to help further their teaching to effectively reach all students. In a school community, teachers become a resource for one another and in working together they can share and spread strategies, classroom management tips, engaging activities, and so much more.

GROWING AS A TEAHCER

My curriculum is based on individual development and various learning styles. I want to work at supporting the learning of each of my students in their current state of life. I plan to do this through learning about my students’ interests, strengths, and abilities then adapting my lessons to reflect that. I will incorporate the use of developmentally appropriate technology such as Smart Board activities and e-storybooks. Hands on learning will also be incorporated in my classroom to give children authentic experiences and the chance to get a little dirty.

SUPPORTING EACH CHILD

I was drawn to teaching because of my love of interacting with children and the positive teacher roles models I had during my own education. My hope is that my classroom will be a loving environment where children can discover education and grow to love school. I believe teaching needs to be authentic to the students’ life and address the whole child. Teaching that is meaningful to the child will be the most valuable to them. Besides just academics; one of the most important jobs of an early childhood teacher is teaching the social and emotional skills children will need to become good citizens.
